About Aszaneé R. Laws
Aszaneé R. Laws founded her practice with a clear purpose: to use the law as a tool for meaningful, lasting impact. While obtaining her bachelor's degree, Aszaneé envisioned opening a pro bono law firm dedicated to serving individuals who were unable to advocate for themselves. That commitment guided her through law school and informed her decision to begin her legal career in public-interest law, rather than immediately opening a private practice.
Working in public-interest law allowed her to provide free legal representation to those in need and to witness firsthand how legal systems affect people at their most vulnerable moments. While this work was important, it also revealed structural limitations. The model was often reactive, emotionally demanding, and difficult to sustain at scale—frequently addressing harm after it had already occurred.
Through experience and reflection, Aszaneé reassessed how she could create impact that was broader in reach and more durable over time. Rather than focusing solely on individual representation, she chose to support the organizations and leaders responsible for delivering services, resources, and advocacy to communities in need. By helping nonprofit organizations remain compliant, well-governed, and positioned for long-term funding, she could support entire communities—not just one client at a time.
Today, her practice focuses on proactive governance, compliance, and risk management for nonprofit organizations and public-facing leaders. Her work is designed to protect mission integrity, strengthen public trust, and ensure that organizations can carry out their work without avoidable legal or reputational disruption.
This approach reflects Aszaneé’s belief that sustainable impact requires both purpose and structure—and that strong legal foundations are essential to meaningful change. The firm works with a focused range of clients — including celebrity, entertainer, and athlete-led charitable foundations, community foundations, startup nonprofits, and legal aid and school-related organizations — where clear governance and proactive compliance are essential to long-term impact.
